I was wondering if investing in a solid fence will add much value to my home?

Right now I don't believe that you will see much money back from adding any type of fence. That being said, if someone wants a house with a fence and your's doen't have one, your home won't sell. If you are going to add a fence, just go with a wire one for now as that is better than nothing.

I think before you add a solid fence, check what the neighbors have - you might be violating some zoning regulations in your city. As for adding value to your home, unless your house is a sprawling estate with well manicured grounds, a solid fence would probably increase the price of your home, but for modest size homes in the suburbs, I think a fence would not do much by way of adding value.

Add a wire fence. As 40ish percent of people have a dog it might help sell your home.

A big reason we bought our place was because it had a big fenced in yard for our children and dog.

do you have a large enough yard?
it all depends on the property you live in, and the neighborhood
in our case, adding a fence WOULD add value to our home
it is a nice size lot in the back, with a deck, and it would make for a nice private yard
