I bought an artificial fireplace (runs by electricty) when I bought my townhouse and it's great as a piece of decor in the winter time. The fire looks real. But a real fireplace would add value to a home, I think. A two car garage would also add value, so would a large home office with built-in shelves!

well, did you buy the fireplace to make your home feel more homy, or did you buy it to increase the value of your home when you sell it?
I doubt it will increase the value of your home, but if you bought it for yourself, I think it was worth it.

I bought it for the sake of decor. Like I said in my first post, I doubt an artificial fireplace would add value. But a real fireplace would!

Getting an artificial fireplace would make a home feel natural minus the dirt. A real fireplace can bring a lot of dust and debris to the living hall and it will take some of our time to maintain the cleanliness of our place.

I can't imagine having an electric fire, we have always had an open fire in the living room and our bedroom, its so much nicer. We don't get dirt from it Flowerhorn, you just empty the tray when you are using it, normally once a week for us.

Hi Samuel, The electric fire I get from my artificial fireplace looks real. It's kind of handy actually. You just push a button and voila! No need to gather firewood or to clean it afetrwards!
