So you are thinking about marriage? If you’re a man you have probably spent endless hours trying to figure out the perfect way to pop the question that will show you are a one of a kind, creative and ingenious man that she just can’t say no to. If you’re a woman, you have dreamt of this moment since you were a young girl dressing up in your mom’s high heels and lipstick! This is an important moment in life and one that should be handled with thought and uniqueness! Finding a fun way to propose can be difficult!
Getting down on one knee, pulling a ring box out of the pocket of your khaki Dockers and looking into her eyes has been done before. Sure, it is still romantic and gets the point across; but it really isn’t anything unusual. She will remember forever because it was a moment that changed her life; but probably wont think of you as any sort of Don Juan! Then you risk her comparing her big moment to that of all her friends and eventually one day she will realize exactly what a dolt you are while watching some fancy dating show. She might say “Why didn’t you do that for me?” It’s all downhill from there! So, instead of settling for boring and effective; go for original (not really, they have probably all been done before), creative and fun ways to propose to the person you love!
Roof top writing is always a good way to propose. Crawl on your roof and paint the proposal on your rooftop and then fly her over it one night in a helicopter or something. The idea of flying the love of your life over a premeditated wedding proposal can work for the sandy beaches (use candles or draw in the sand), or if you are really adept over a grassy pasture that you spent all day mowing out the words “Will you Marry Me?” Might be a good idea to include a name because otherwise she might never believe that it is intended for her! Speaking of flying, if you are really brave – take a death defying jump out of an airplane together and have an instructor scroll it on the top of their parachute! As you are miles above the Earth she will look down to see your proposal! If you just love planes and the idea of proposing against the clouds, hire a small plane to drag a banner overhead during a special day together!
Renting billboards and placing them on the roads you know your girl will be traveling on can be fun as well. The only problem with these, is there is always a chance she is too busy checking out the guy in the car next to her or paying attention to traffic that she will cruise right by it and never see it. Some guys have had to wait days for their girlfriend to finally notice. When she gets home without seeming excited or in a bad mood; it can be easy to assume that her answer is NO, when in reality she just hasn’t seen the sign yet! Kind of a risky attempt. If you are stuck on signage to display your message, perhaps placing large signs on her street (like Real Estate Signs) in bright colors that will definitely attract her attention.
Marriage proposals really should be done in private just in case your sweetheart is not quite feeling the same as you; however displaying the message at the local baseball or football game on the scoreboard can work. Just make sure you plan it ahead of time so the TV cameras will get to procure the event for you! Fun ways to propose do not necessarily have to involve large events or crowds and sometimes a very personal and touching proposal can be just the thing she needs to want to say YES!
Taking a vacation together can be a good time to propose. Word to the wise; do it early on – because by the end of the trip you might no longer want to spend the rest of your life with this person. Writing her a story about your love and life together and asking her to marry you at the very end can be a very personal touch. Similarly, making one of those photo stories and asking your local move theatre to play it during intermission can be a great surprise (just make sure she doesn’t get up to use the bathroom). There are some sites now where you can have personal songs written and many offer you the choice to record the music yourself. You could get your recording and leave for her to play in her CD player on the way to work or ask a local radio station to play it during her morning commute. Just make sure she tunes in that day! Perhaps having the radio station call her and tell her she won a contest or something would make sure she was listening at the time!
These are just some ideas. You could get your horses or dogs to hold up signs, tie a ring to her cat’s back, hide a ring inside a cake, taco (gross but works) or inside a wine glass! Food proposals offer limitless options; the trick is making sure she doesn’t swallow the ring! Holiday proposals make anniversaries and the such easy to remember and special for the rest of your life! Even Halloween and the 4th of July provide endless opportunity. In order to not be run of the mill; avoid Valentines Day- opting for St Patrick’s Day instead. This gives you an extra month of bachelorhood and St. Patty’s Day is definitely more fun!
The point of finding a fun way to propose is to do something, anything really that is symbolic of your relationship. It’s you and her for the rest of your life, right! Make it memorable. Some men concerned that the answer would be NO, may just go the shot gun method and purposely try to impregnate their lady hoping that her morality will ensure she just HAS to marry you! Unfortunately, the consequences of this can mean a lifetime of wondering whether or not she would have actually picked you had she felt she was given a choice! This really is the real beginning of a private life between the two of you and should be significantly reminiscent of something that both of you share a passion for. It is true that most fun ways to propose have probably been tried at some point in the history of love but whatever you do – it will still be new, creative and original to her! Make it stand for something special and you are bound to get a big smile, tears and the yes you were looking for!
