We are going to bring a friend a plant as a housewarming gift, any ideas on what type is good. Right not we are leaning towards a jade plant.

Jade plants are easy to grow and make a great housewarming gift. I've received gifts of plants before but don't have a green thumb. A friend came over one day for an "intervention" and took all of them away except the jade plant as it was the only one thriving. I do have visitation rights for the others and they seem much happier in their new home.

I would agree a cactus would be wonderful. Does the person you are giving it too have any other houseplants? Maybe if you knew what they already had you could find something that would compliment them?

How about an indoor one that grows food...or herbs? Useful and nice!

Or a flower plant could be nice as well like jasmine - not only does it look pretty but the fragrance is lovely

We went with a Jade plant but our friend some how managed to kill it, I think he gave it to much water and not enough light
