Would be mighty interesting to know how many members and visitors at professors house blog. a) Have your own blog? b) Which blog program do you use? c) Do you venture out to blogosphere and answer some blogs or post a comment or two? I'm thinking of starting my own blog and toying with the idea of using google blog. Any ideas, suggestions? Anyone ever worked with word press?

I thought about doing one, but haven't made the leap yet. A couple of years ago I created a Web site for our 4-H group and had a hard enough time keeping that updated on a regular basis. I prefer a template where I can just drop things in without having to worry about anything else.

I had a blog before, but it was pretty hard to bring traffic to it. I guess you have to talk about interesting, unique topics, and just stick to it.
I do own a forum though. It is music based. Not too bad traffic in there. There are 300+ members.
I think you have to pick a unique theme if you want it to work.

I'm about to finish my personal blog. The content is all about love and relationship. I'm not earning money yet in writing blogs. Hopefully soon. I heard from a friend that bloggers earned big bucks nowadays. Hoping that I will become one of them in the future.

That's good to have some answers to my question! I thought for awhile there that either no one blogged before or were just shy to say so. I have blogged for a couple of clients in the past (about computers and software basically) but don't have my own blog. I think I want to start one but will probably go with the google one because it's free. Wordpress is also free and they have nice templates. Have anyone of you tried Blogger (google) or wordpress? They have ready templates so it saves you a lot of trouble trying to learn HTML! (although I love learning HTML)...

After I read your original post Maria, I went to wordpress and started one. I mentioned it to a couple of friends who immediately wanted to read it, so I'm inspired now. I liked the templates in wordpress, so I'll probably stick with it rather than google.

Elaine, Out of curiosity, did you register with wordpress.org or wordpress.com? I think wordpress.org isn't free. You actually pay a fee. Are you enjoying it? You can add adwords or start becoming an affiliate. Look into Commission Junction.

I have a blog, which I host at my own domain name. It runs on Wordpress. A lot of people get confused about how Wordpress works. There are basically three options...
You can start your own blog for free at WordPress.com. If your blog name were "Mom's Corner," then your Web address would be momscorner.wordpress.com.
You can also start a blog for free at WordPress.com and buy a domain to use. That costs around $10 a year. So your blog would still be hosted by Wordpress, but you could use the domain name momscorner.com.
Or you can buy a domain name and hosting plan with just about any host, and run Wordpress on that server. This is what I do. The Wordpress software is free, but if you go this route, you do have to pay a fee to a hosting company on either a monthly or annual basis. I pay $45 annually.
The reason I decided to go with my own privately hosted blog is because you have more control over what you do with it -- where you put advertising, etc. And you have access to the servers to alter the design and code as you want to. If your blog really starts to get a lot of traffic, you have control over the hosting plan to be sure you have enough power to handle it.

I have one blog. I made that blog hoping to enrol it in revenue sharing sites. But I can't seem to understand how it really works, so I stopped blogging.

I'm quite interested in blogging. I read a lot of articles online stating that we can earn a lot from our blogs.

I haven't started mine yet because I'm afraid it might be a high maintenance kind of thing. Also, I'd like to blog on something which I feel will help others. One thing nice about blogging is to be able to include graphics in your blog to break the monotony of text. So I am still hee-hawing between google and wordpress. Sigh...decisions, decisions.
