Anyone who wears a tattoo around here? Can you describe what it's like getting a tattoo done? What design did you choose?

I love tattoo. It's a form of art for me. Infact, I have one at my back. I love designs such as butterflies, tweety and flowers. At first, it really hurts but no regrets because you'll surely appreciate the outcome.

Be careful though. Tattoos are great but some of them, once painted on skin, are either permanent or hard to remove. I would also be careful about any allergic reactions.

I have one down near my ankle. Its a daisy. As far as how it felt to have it done, it hurt, but it was bearable. I think it took about an hour and felt kind of like a continuous bee sting. Not fun but I really loved the final result.

i have wanted one for a while... but i am chicken. it took me the longest time to work up the nerve to give my left ear pierced once with a gun and then another year or so to go ahead with three piercings in my right ear, the proper way at a piercing shop with a needle. neither hurt, but the tattoo is different. not sure i will do it.
i love watching that LA or Miami Ink show where the people getting the tattoos always seem to be feeling no pain! what's the deal?

I have a tattoo on my lower right side of my back. It`s an eagle with his wings spread and a ribbon around him. In the ribbon it has my boys names and my hubbys name too. I also have a purple heart tatto on my right thigh. They hurt like H#$#$. lol. I don`t think I want anymore lol.

Wow! That's great that we have some tattoo lovers on board. I'm sure there are more of you out there who have unique tattoos and we'd love to hear from you. I'm now on what you call a "tattoo survey." It's an interesting topic not only for the young, but also for the not-so-young at heart. I think it's a personal statement and each tattoo carries the wearer's message or symbolic meaning. Hope the others will share! C'mon guys and gals, let's tattoo-talk.

Tatto's are a nice thing to do especially during young ages.It really depends upon how you thing your tatto should be.But i would prefer using it on my forearms alone.

I don't want more needles

I wanted to get a tattoo of a Celtic chain around my ankle but my husband had an absolute fit when I mentioned it to him.

A celtic chain around your ankle? What would that mean to you, Elaine? If I had to have a tattoo made (which I doubt), I'd probably go for a book (to symbolize my love for reading) or a pen (to symbolize my love for writing).

I am not a fan of tattoos. My sister, mum, gran and aunts all have them, and I think they look awful. However, I have a friend who has a really beautiful one on her ankle and foot, but it is not really for me. I am more into piercings really.

I have a small tattoo on my back near my left shoulder. It is of a moon and stars, which is symbolic for me because of my Dad. When I was little, he would tell me every night, "You know I want the moon and stars for you." So, I figured if I carried those wishes around in adulthood, they would bring me luck.
I got the tattoo when I was in my earlier twenties. I went out that day with my roommate, who was planning to get her navel pierced. I thought that was a bad idea, so I went with her to try to prevent it. And I came home with a tattoo which I never intended to get.
BUT, if I had it to do over again, would I? Yes! Now that I'm a thirty-something married mom, it's a harmless little reminder of that kind of frivolous time in your life when you're still finding out who you are. (And I was smart enough to get it in a place where it never shows at work!)

I have two tattoos. I had one done on my arm when I was 20,it is a heart with a sword through it. It symbolized all my bad relationships I had had at that point in my life, which was quite a few. I then had a pair of cowboy boots with a hat and roses, with the nick names of my parents on my leg after they both passed away. I plain to get a few more. I feel it is a great way to express ones self if they are OK with it.

I don't have one. I'm afraid of getting infected or something. I only prefer tattoos made of henna. In that way you can remove it if you don't like it anymore.

I don't like to have a tattoo. They are expensive and it could cost you a lot for removing it because you have to use advance technology.

I have one tattoo of a butterfly on my back. I had it done at 17 and don't regret it. It wasn't that painful. I would not get anymore tattoos though because of my religious views now.

At one point I wanted a little daisy on my hip. Now that I am older I am glad that I did not get one. Now to me it seems like a waste of money. But love Henna and temp as an accent, like jewelry. My daughter wants one and that is fine, as long as its tasteful. julie

I got my tattoo when I was 24, after shopping around for almost 2 years. I got a butterfly on my chest just below the collarbone.
I got it because I wanted a scar that I had chosen. Not one that was the result of pregnancy or an injury.

I have on tattoo on my ring finger, it felt like hot scratching when I had it done. My husband Frank however is pretty much covered in tattoo's and he says it depends where you have the tattoo and whether it is just an outline or filled in on how it feels.

Wow, his whole body covered in tatoos! Bet those were done over months. I can't imagine anyone having the patience to sit (or lie down) for days to get his body covered in tattoos! We've received interesting replies to this tattoo survey. I didn't know we could use henna for doing tattoos, that's good news. Wildwoman, those tattoos certainly mean something to you, although I hope looking at your tattoo won't bring back the sad memories. Wonderful comments, folks. Keep it up. I've been absent from the forums for a few days but am back with a vengeance!

He had his first tattoo on his 18th birthday and had his latest one about a month ago, his face and the soles of his feet are the only places where he has none, though he does have one on his inner lower lip. He has one which is glow in the dark, which I must admit is pretty cool. You can get degrabeable ink now that can be removed from one laser session instead of multiple ones, I don't know how the inks vibrancy is compared to normal ink though. You are only meant to have a maximum of eight hours a sitting with two weeks between the next sitting.

first off all tattoos are permanent unless its henna art from a carnival or something. second it feels cool when there are being done. i have four and i love them all but things u should keep in mind about tattoos are that you should choose designs that fit u and that you like and maybe try to stick to a theme if your going to get more than one, which u most likely will it is as if they are addicting or something

I would caution anyone considering getting a tattoo. As a young person it may seem cool and trendy. Take a look at how tattoos change as our skin ages...not so pretty. Personally, it's not very attractive or elegant to see large tattoo on a woman in an evening gown...tacky.

I find tattoos ugly, regardless of the talent of the artist who puts ink to skin. It is beyond me why anyone would want to add something to their body that will only look worse over time.
