Does anyone care?  I do.

I am Leafs fan... not much more to say there.

I can't understand the point of opening the season in Europe.  Bettman, to me, from almost every standpoint, has been bad for the game.  Expansion has been a joke.

I am hoping we see some of the southern/western teams fold in the US and teams go into Southern Ontario and better hockey towns.  They should have focused on the big hockey towns to begin with and not tried forcing the game into places with no tradition and nothing but a tiny, although dedicated fan base.

I fully agree with you, Bettman is an idiot. Why they are pushing hockey where it is not popular ...just to expand the game makes NO sense.

Still the best sport to watch by far, but the expansion has been a joke as has just about every marketing effort by the league since Bettman.

Hamilton/Southern Ontario deserves a team before Nashville!  And I am guessing that Quebec or even Winnipeg could support a team... the rich clubs ought to give to the poor clubs to sustain franchises in places where there will be real support and excitement.

Speaking of Quebec, yes, hockey is big around here.  Even junior hockey is a large organisation on its own and hockey organisers never lack sponsors.  I am not a hockey fan, but since I live in a popular hockey town (Maurice "the rocket" Richard, Jean Belliveau, Guy Lafleur, Dickie Moore, et al) I know something about it.  I'm no expert though.

What puzzles me are the atoms, pee-wees - you know - the names that they give to junior hockey.  How does one go from an atom to a pee-wee for instance?  A big puzzle to me!

Nothing beats the day of the 21-team league (and of course, the oldtimers will say the original six)...

Hartford, Quebec, Loss-i-peg (!)... those were the days.

Even so, I am excited about the season that really gets underway Thursday night.  This weekend was so odd with "regular season" games happening on the same days as preseason games!
