Anyone want to throw in an idea or two about how to celebrate Christmas this year, or offer gift suggestions or think of any charities to give to? In our city, our paper profiles people who are hard up - they're real people but with their names changed. The paper runs a Christmas fund every year and they publish stories of real life situations. You'll be amazed at how many people could use some help. Just when we feel sorry for ourselves, reading stories like these make you think twice about complaining. We don't know it but if you really think about it, we're more blessed than we think! Since my family is in the States, I would have to buy small gifts that won't weigh a ton when I take them to the post office. I'm tempted however to send them cash via paypal. What about you?

We'll stay home this year. Will be sending things out over the next month so it breaks up the cost of shipping. As for charities - have been supporting a few...Independence Fund, Restore Our Soldiers, Heifer Project International and Old Friends Retirement center.

I send my package by surface mail - it gets to the States in about 2 weeks. Right now my charities involve children fund-raising drives and Alzheimer's. I think I may want to donate to a cancer charity as well, in memory of my father.
